On World Teachers Day, new campaign and infographic highlights need to unite for quality education

There is an old African proverb which says “it takes a village to raise a child”.  In the world of global education, we believe it takes a global partnership to unite for quality education and teach every child.  Learn more about this in our new infographic below.
Today, the eve of World Teachers’ Day, Education International—the world’s largest federation of teacher unions, representing over 30 million teachers in more than 170 countries and territories—is launching a new global campaign Unite for Quality Education to raise awareness of a critical issue: access to quality education.  The campaign will be launched simultaneously in Paris and New York City by UN Special Envoy for Education Gordon Brown and EI President Susan Hopgood in New York, and by UNESCO Director General Irina Bokova and EI General Secretary Fred van Leeuwen in Paris.  Alice Albright, CEO of the Global Partnership for Education, will also be speaking about GPE’s committment to improve teacher effectiveness by training, recruiting and retaining teachers and supporting them to provide a good quality education.
Watch the live webcast at 9AM EDT / 15:00 CEST www.unite4education.org/live/ and follow the discussions on Twitter at @unite4ed #unite4ed
During the year-long campaign, member organizations will engage in advocacy and dialogue with global partners around the pressing need to invest in quality education and teacher development. Educators will share their stories on a digital hub www.unite4education.org.
