The latest PISA results revealed a 39 point gap between girls and boys in reading skills, write William Brozo and Richard Whitmire in today’s New York Daily News. They argue that there is a fundamental international failure of schools and parents to engage boys in literacy skills and warn of the consequences. In a forum in the Spring 2010 issue of Ed Next, Whitmire and Susan Bailey debated whether boys are being shortchanged by K-12 schools.
