2012 was the “The Year of the MOOC” as dubbed by The New York Times (and noted by edtechmagazine.com). Yet we saw some of the first MOOCS back in 2008 but the recent trend in growth and adoption of these open courses has a lot to do with the nontraditional education route that students are choosing to take.
