The WISE Awards highlight educational projects that have had a transformative impact upon communities and society. This year's theme is Transforming Education and one of the Awards will be for a project that has best delivered innovative financing of primary education. If you have an education project that deserves international recognition, or know of other eligible candidates, please click here before May 31 to fill in the application form.
Web documentaries on the 2011 WISE Awards Winners are currently being produced in the run up to the announcement of the 2012 Winners in September. The first in this series is now online and features the Teacher Education in Sub-Saharan Africa (TESSA) project. TESSA is improving the accessibility and quality of school-based training for existing teachers, student teachers and aspiring teachers across Sub-Saharan Africa. This network of 20 universities and organizations from 12 African countries is led by the Open University in the UK and guides teachers in developing their core pedagogical practices whilst remaining in their schools.

View this interactive multimedia web documentary and listen to what beneficiaries on the ground have to say about the project. Meet Felicia, a teacher from Ghana, who talks about how TESSA's online resources inspire her teaching, and find out how this digital toolkit is empowering and connecting teachers.
